Between Us is designed to keep assessment information separate from ordinary contact and marketing information. This notice explains what we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you. Because no online service can guarantee perfect security or anonymity, we describe these protections as safeguards—not promises that risk can be eliminated.

Information you choose to provide

When you create an account, buy or complete an assessment, or ask to hear from us, we may collect:

• your first and last name, email address, password credential, mobile number, and ZIP or postal code;
• purchase and access information, such as assessment type, payment status, report ownership, and partner-invitation status;
• your assessment responses, machine-calculated scores, and generated reports; and
• separate records of your email and text-message choices, including when a choice was made or withdrawn.

Mobile number and ZIP or postal code are optional unless a particular future service clearly says otherwise. Payment-card details are entered with Stripe; Between Us receives the transaction information needed to confirm access, rather than your full card number.

Your account and private reports

An account uses an email address and password to help you return to reports and, where available, connect a couples assessment. When a report is attached to your account, authorization checks are used to limit access to that account. Keep your password and any private assessment or invitation link secure. If you believe someone else has gained access, contact us promptly.

Assessment answers, scores, and report prose are kept outside the marketing profile. Choosing to receive updates does not give a marketing or customer-relationship system access to those materials.

Email choices

The email-updates choice may be selected by default when you create an account. You can clear it before submitting the form. If you leave it selected, we record that choice separately from your acceptance of the Terms and Privacy notice. You can later unsubscribe through an email link, change the setting in your account, or contact us. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop necessary account, purchase, safety, password-reset, invitation, or report-delivery messages.

Text-message choices

If text confirmation is available, you may separately choose an optional request-to-text checkbox. It is not selected by default, and checking it does not enroll you in marketing texts. It authorizes one message asking you to reply YES. Marketing texts begin only after an affirmative YES reply is recorded. Reply STOP to end texts or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply, and consent is not a condition of purchase.

A communications provider may receive the contact details and consent status needed to deliver a message. Assessment answers, scores, and report narrative are not sent to that provider or to a marketing CRM.

Assessment progress and reports

While you take the assessment, unfinished selections may be stored temporarily in the current browser so a refresh does not erase your progress. The service stores completed responses and deterministic scores to create, display, and preserve your report. We may also use response data in deidentified, aggregate analysis to improve wording, scoring, reliability, and the overall product.

Couples assessments and sharing

Partners complete the assessment independently. An invitation does not allow either partner to read the other person’s item-level answers or private individual report. For account-based linking, the invited partner must sign in, accept the invitation, and provide an explicit sharing choice. A combined relationship report is generated only after both assessments are complete and both partners’ sharing choices are recorded.

The combined report necessarily describes patterns from both profiles. After it is released to both partners, either person may save or share what they can see, so use couples sharing only with someone you trust. Potential abuse, coercion, threats, stalking, or fear for safety should not be treated as an ordinary couples-report issue.

How AI is used

Scores and graph values are calculated by fixed software rules. To write the narrative report, a protected server route sends OpenAI the structured scores and the limited response evidence needed for interpretation. The AI does not receive your password, payment-card details, or marketing preferences, and API credentials do not appear in your browser. Couples-report processing is limited to the profile evidence needed to explain how the two patterns may interact. AI may still produce incomplete or mistaken language, so reports should be read as educational guidance rather than fact or diagnosis.

Deidentified product analytics

A separate analytics record may be created after completion to study aggregate response patterns and improve the assessment. That record uses a random identifier and is designed to exclude direct contact details, payment identifiers, private invitation tokens, and report prose. Response patterns can sometimes be distinctive, so deidentification reduces risk but does not make reidentification impossible.

Service providers and operational records

Between Us uses service providers for hosting, database and account services, payments, AI report generation, and email or text delivery. Those providers process the information needed for their role. Website infrastructure may also create routine technical and security logs, such as browser, device, request, and error information. Completion alerts sent to the site owner are designed to contain an anonymous identifier, assessment type, and completion time—not answers or report prose.

Retention and deletion

Account and assessment information is kept while it is needed to provide reports, maintain the service, protect against misuse, meet recordkeeping obligations, and improve the product. Between Us does not currently promise one fixed retention period for every category. You may ask to access, correct, or delete account and assessment information by emailing pdanielward@gmail.com. We will verify the request before acting. Limited information may remain for legal, fraud-prevention, payment, backup, or security purposes, and deidentified aggregate records may not be reasonably linkable back to your account.

Security and scope

Between Us uses server-side secrets, access controls, and encrypted connections provided by its technology vendors. No storage or transmission method is risk-free. Between Us is an MD-created educational reflection tool, not a healthcare service, clinical record system, or diagnostic instrument. Creating an account does not create a physician-patient or therapist-client relationship.
